Chapter I How to measure happiness

When I ask the students about the "conditions of happiness," the most common answer relates to "rich people," followed by health, peace and freedom, and good relationships.
I believe that money has a lot to do with happiness, but is it this simple?
In this chapter, we'll take a closer look at happiness. The goal is to come up with a definition and quantitative assessment of a difficult subject like happiness, and to understand specific approaches to actually being happy.

Let's start with the definition of happiness.
The first step to search the definition of happiness is to write a lot of facts about the subject (happiness) in the way of brainstorming, as I mentioned in "3. How to verbalize and quantify abstractions."
After actually thinking, I came up with the following:
What is happiness

  • To be rich
  • Health
  • Freedom
  • Good human relations
  • Good reviews from others
  • Things turn out the way you want to
  • A continued peaceful life
  • the state of having fun
  • the state of having a bright future
  • self-actualization
  • growth
  • the state of not being unhappy
  • ability to feel happy
etc. Many things came to mind.

Next step is to categorize and organize the words you've written. Organize similar content, or remove things that don't apply to many people or are abstract.
As I ponder which ones to delete and which ones to keep, the word "money" had a strong impression. I couldn’t ignore money and talk about happiness. So I decided to take a moment to reflect on happiness and money.

This book uses a lot of bullet points to summarize what I've come up with. This has the advantage of being easy to write down what comes to mind as quickly as a memo, and easy to read. The definition of happiness resumes after we sort out your thoughts on "money."

1.Happiness and money

(1)With money, you can fulfill all your desires.
  • With money, you can get what you want.
  • With money, you can avoid all sorts of hardships.
  • But it's not as simple as "millionaires = happiness" . Wealthy people can lament their misfortune or commit suicide.
(2)There are a lot of things that money can't get.
  • Friendship, love.
  • Improvement and achievement in sports, studies, etc.
  • Control of feelings.
  • Time.
  • Experience.
  • Manipulating nature, such as the weather.
(3)Still, we want enough money. But making a lot of money isn't easy.
  • There are risks and difficulties in making a lot of money.
  • Can you join a company with a high salary and flourish, or can you succeed independently?
  • Everyone has their own limits on physical strength and ability.
  • There are also elements of luck and gambling.
(4)Many people work as company employees. There is a limit to what one can earn as an employee.
  • In many cases, office workers are stable but not very rich.
  • Salaries generally increase with experience and skill.
  • Salaries vary from company to company.
(5)Even if you gradually get ahead and earn more, still you don’t feel it’s enough.
  • Even if you earn more than the average salary of your generation, you don't feel like you're getting enough.
  • You don't look too happy when you look at your boss who earns more than you do.
  • How much money do you want? We don't know exactly.
(6)Money can go down suddenly, but it rarely goes up suddenly.
  • Examples of a sudden increase: Bonuses when business is good, success in investing, lottery tickets, inheritance, etc.
  • Examples of a sudden decrease: Large purchases, broken household goods, accidents, illness, ceremonial occasions, loss of income due to restructuring or job change, etc.
  • There is also an element of luck that one can not control when money increases (decreases).
(7)When you push yourself to make money, it affects your mental and health.
  • The stress of work.
  • The stress of relationships.
  • Fatigue or lack of sleep.
(8)It is realistic to do a job that suits you and maximize your happiness with that income.
  • Live a life that suits you without taking on too much.
  • Manage with an income that matches your ability.
  • Consider happiness in your long-term life plan.

【Summary】
I think there are many situations where money is directly related to happiness, but I realize that getting enough money is not easy. In other words, if the definition of happiness is hypothetically "rich," it is not a very realistic definition because it is difficult to become rich. It is also doubtful that the definition of "rich" will hold true for everyone. Because there are some wealthy people out there who feel unhappy about themselves.
What matters here is what goes beyond the "rich." Why do you want to be rich? A lot of people will say because you can do what you want. In other words, money is meaningless if you just have it, and it's important that you spend it and feel happy.

2.Definition of Happiness

Getting rich is not easy. Also, money is not an end, but a means to do what you love. In other words, there's "do what you love" beyond money. And you're going to need not only money, but health and freedom to do what you love. Plus, it's essential to have something you love (something you want to do).

So far, from the aforementioned brainstorming list of "what is happiness," I was curious about "rich people" and thought about the relationship between happiness and money.
Next, if you look at the words other than "rich people," you'll find things like "health" and "good relationships" on the list, but it's too narrow to define happiness, so I'll take the plunge and delete them.
As for the other words, after thinking about each connection and various situations, I've concluded that "having fun" is the most directly connected to happiness, applicable to many people, and is the easiest keyword to understand.
And I've defined happiness as "Having a theme you want to do for fun and doing it."

Next, I'll think deeply about "the theme you want to do for fun," including the meaning of testing this definition. And if there are any inconsistencies or areas for improvement in the definitions, they can be corrected.
Here's a bulleted list of "what you want to do for fun":

(1) There are a variety of subjects we want to do for fun.
  • Events such as trips and concerts.
  • Hobbies.
  • Playing with friends.
  • Shopping.
  • Making a success of work.
  • Eating good food, and so on.
       ↓
Themes vary in size and joy.
(2)Money, time and health are necessary to carry out the theme.
  • Can it be done within my income?
  • Can I afford the time?
  • Is my current health okay?
  • It's not about comparison or superiority, it's about "me" wanting to do it.
(3)There are long-term themes, mid-term themes and short-term themes.
  • They can be classified into three categories with a sense of time horizon.
  • The three categories make it easier to deal with the subjects you want to do for fun.
【What are long-term themes?】
  • Themes set for achievement in years or decades.
  • It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve.
  • An image of a milestone goal in life planning.
  • What you want to do throughout your life.
  • When you will the climax of your life, what will you be doing?
  • Long-term themes come to mind when you are aware of the timeline from the present to death.
((Example)Take a trip around the world, conquer World's top 100 mountains, buy an expensive sports car, achieve results in insect research, etc.
【What are mid-term Themes】
  • Themes you want to do in the next few days or months.
  • It requires some planning and budget.
  • Use your allowance and savings to avoid becoming a burden on your life.
  • Take advantage of holidays and paid holidays to implement.
  • It could be a part of long-term theme.
(Example)Daily hobbies, buying things you want, spending time with people you love, traveling, events, successful work, etc.
【What are short-term themes?】
  • A theme that can be completed in a day.
  • Use your allowance to cover the cost and do not make it a burden on your life.
  • Feel free to plan and change.
  • It may be part of an action to realize a long or med-term theme.
(Example)Fun that pops into your head, when you're performing a part of a mid-term or long-term theme, etc.

As a result of thinking deeply about the "theme you want to do for fun", I think you've come to see the specific image of this definition, the requirements, etc. If you find any inconsistencies or areas for improvement in the definition, you can correct them until you're satisfied.
After much consideration, I've decided to stick with this definition.
 And here's a break.

3.Evaluation criteria for themes you want to do for fun

I defined happiness as "having a theme you want to do for fun and doing it" .
Next topic is to measure happiness.
To measure something, you need to think about a metric. If you can set universal standards that many people will accept, you can quantify happiness levels. And if you know your happiness level by the numbers, you can begin to see specific ways to live a happy life.

Now let's consider what factors (criteria) are appropriate to measure the "subject you want to do for fun."

Again, I've summarized it in bullet points.

(1)Everyone is happy when they are executing the subject they want to do for fun. But, different themes have different levels of fun.
  • Some themes are more euphoric, while others seem less so as a result.
  • Fun moods begin before the theme is implemented (in the planning stage), allowing for a comprehensive evaluation after the theme is implemented.
  • There are different kinds of fun.
(2)You decide what you want to do as fun. Then, through the sense of anticipation until the theme is implemented, there is a feeling when it is implemented and a sense of fulfillment after it is implemented.
  • Planning → How excited were you before the theme started?
  • Execution → What joy and gain did you have while you were executing the theme?
  • Feelings → After the theme, how many wonderful memories do you have?
         ↓
"Excitement" at the planning stage and "memories" after the theme is over are important indicators to evaluate the theme.
(3)In addition, think about the joy you feel when implementing the theme.
When do people feel joy (as a result of brainstorming ideas):
  • When it's funny
  • When it's comfortable
  • When you were praised
  • When you gained confidence
  • When your desires were fulfilled
  • When you felt growth
  • When your curiosity was satisfied
  • When things went as expected
  • When you are superior to your surroundings

As for the evaluation criteria for measuring the level of a theme you want to do for fun, I first thought that the sense of excitement before implementing the theme and the memories after implementing it were important indicators for measuring the theme. This means that the important evaluation criteria are how excited you were before you started the theme and how good memories you had after you finished it.
In addition, the evaluation criteria for the pleasure you feel while implementing the theme should be considered from those listed in (3) which are appropriate indicators of evaluation.
While reviewing the similarities and other aspects of the items listed in (3), a word came to mind. "Sense of achievement ". When you're praised, when your desires are satisfied, when your curiosity is satisfied, and when things go as expected, can result in a sense of achievement. This means that these items can be expressed in "sense of achievement ".
Furthermore, one of these items in (3) that I felt I could not remove was "growth". A sense of achievement is a momentary image of something achieved, while growth is a continuous, step-by-step process. It is also a human instinct to feel joy about growth.
For these reasons, I was sure that "sense of achievement " and "growth" are also important factors that are directly linked to the happiness we can gain by performing the theme we want to do for fun. So, I added these two as evaluation criteria.

We now have four evaluation criteria: sense of excitement, sense of achievement, growth, and memories . You can think more, but too many evaluation criteria can complicate things. Therefore, I decided to use these four as criteria for evaluating the themes you want to do for fun. Later on, you can repeat the practice and add or change as needed. If you're once satisfied, it's important to move forward.

4.How to evaluate themes you want to do for fun

Once you have a set of evaluation criteria, the next step is to come up with a quantitative evaluation method.
This task is simple. All you have to do is quantify the level of sense of excitement, sense of achievement, growth, and memories, as follows:

  • Set a standard from 1 to 10 points for the 4 evaluation criteria and self-grade.
    【1 point】 I don't feel it at all
    【3 points】I felt it a little
    【5 points】I felt about normal
    【7 points】I felt strongly
【10 points】I felt strongly like I've never felt before
  • You can grade 10 points or more, or a minus, if necessary.
  • Score " sense of excitement," " sense of achievement," "growth," and "memories" for every theme result.

When scoring, it's easier to keep the following in mind: These are the things I noticed when I actually tried to score the themes I want to do for fun.

【About the Sense of Excitement】
  • In the period from the time a theme is decided to the time it is implemented, self-grade how excited you were.
  • In general, themes that are fresh or implemented with someone you like will have a higher level of excitement.
  • There is a high level of excitement in gambling, which makes money when successful. However, when you lose money, your "sense of achievement" and "memories" score even lower.
  • The score will be based on your expectations for the subject and how often you are excited to remember it.
【About the Sense of Achievement】
  • Self-grade your sense of achievement and fulfillment when you are performing and finishing the theme.
  • In general, sense of achievement will be higher when the effort and hard work you put in is big.
  • Themes that can be compared with the past or results that can be quantified, such as "won a sport title," are easier to grade the achievement.
  • Repeated execution of the same theme can lead to a diminished sense of achievement.
【About Growth】
  • Self-grade how much you grew when the theme ended.
  • It is an indicator of whether something has improved, such as physical fitness or knowledge.
  • People take great pleasure in growing up.
  • Themes that continue to be implemented or whose results can be quantified are easy to see the level of growth.
【About Memories】
  • After the theme is finished, self-grade the degree to which it remains as a good impression or a pleasant memory.
  • If there are unusual fun themes, fresh themes, or unexpected good happenings, the "memories" score will be higher.
  • Since the memories fade, the score should be based on the thoughts immediately after the theme ends.
5. Examples of evaluations

Now, let's deepen our understanding with specific examples. The main points are as follows.

  • Evaluate "excitement," "achievement," "growth," and "memories" on a scale of 1 to 10 for each theme.
  • The total score of the 4 indicators is the "happiness level of the theme".
  • Grade sensuously at first without thinking too much.
  • As you get used to it, you naturally develop a scoring standard within yourself that increases your accuracy.
  • It's a perfect score of 40, so if you multiply the scoring result by "2.5," you get a perfect score of 100.

Theme example (1) You ate a delicious cake.
You bought a cake from a famous cake shop. It was delicious enough to be among the best 3 cakes you had ever eaten.

・Sence of excitement: 6 points

・Sence of achievement: 6 points

・Growth: 3 points

・Memories: 6 points

Total 21 points (52.5 points)

図

Theme example(2) Your hobby is visiting castles and you visited a famous castle you always wanted to go.
Visiting castles around the country has been your hobby for the past 10 years, and you were able to visit a beautiful castle with a good guide this holiday.

・Sence of excitement: 8 points

・Sence of achievement: 8 points

・Growth: 7 points

・Memories: 8 points

Total 31 points (77.5 points)

図

Theme example(3) Went on your honeymoon.
You were excited from the planning stage. And was the most memorable trip ever.

・Sence of excitement: 10 points

・Sence of achievement: 7 points

・Growth: 6 points

・Memories: 10 points

Total 33 points (82.5 points)

図

Theme example(4) You won the national Judo tournament.
After six years of hard work in the judo club since junior high school, you become a high school champion.

・Sence of excitement: 6 points

・Sence of achievement: 9 points

・Growth: 9 points

・Memories: 10 points

Total 34 points (85.0 points)

図

Theme example(5) You have opened a bar, which has been your dream (goal) for many years.

You saved money while working at a restaurant for 10 years. And finally, succeeded to open a whiskey bar.

・Sence of excitement: 8 points

・Sence of achievement: 8 points

・Growth: 8 points

・Memories: 8 points

Total 32 points (80.0 points)

6.Themes that score high on "growth" tend to score high

The four indicators "sense of excitement," "sense of achievement," "growth" and "memories" are all important, but the themes that score high in "growth" tend to have high levels of happiness (total points).
If it's a theme you do for fun, "sense of excitement" and "memories" are unlikely to score below 5 (normal). That's because it's natural to be excited before doing something you enjoy and have good memories when you're done. On the other hand, when it comes to growth, it's not always because it's fun. An event like a concert, for example, the growth score might not be high.
Feeling growth is a very happy thing. It is not an exaggeration to say that human beings wish to grow day by day in all things. I think you will understand it if you remember the joy of being able to do things you could not do before and the fulfillment of gaining knowledge you did not know.
In that sense, one of the tips to improve your happiness level is to choose (practice) themes with "growth" in mind.

【Summary】
  • The happiness level of a person's life is a total score on each of the previous themes.
  • If you have a lot of themes that you want to do for fun and you are doing a lot, the happiness level of a person's life will be high. Themes that involve "growth" in particular can score high.
  • Continuous hobbies, for example, may not score high at one time, but their happiness level can be increased by continuing.
  • Even on the same subject, scoring results vary from person to person (depending on how they feel).
  • You can score casually based on your subjectivity. And as you get used to it, internal criteria for scoring will be established.
7.About unhappiness

So far, I have been thinking a lot about happiness in order to consider and evaluate the definition of happiness. Thinking deeply about "happiness" has led me to realize many things about "unhappiness" as well.

(1)There is no need to deduct your happiness level according to your unhappiness.
  • The happiness level in life is not happiness minus unhappiness.
  • It is important to think of unhappiness as a temporary phenomenon and to have hope for the future.
  • Overcoming an unfortunate event builds mental strength and fodder for life afterward.
(2)Unhappiness and hardship are important elements that enhance happiness in the future.
  • Unhappiness and hardship increase the value of the subject you want to do for fun.
  • Themes that are implemented after overcoming hardships and difficulties have a higher score of "sense of achievement".
  • Think of the magnitude of unhappiness as, for example, drawing a bow toward happiness. If you draw a lot, the arrow flies strong and far. However, if you exceed the limit, the string will break.
(3)When something is missing, people feel unhappy.
  • What is missing? Can it be recovered?
  • There are things that time solves, things that money solves, things that you solve by organizing your feelings.
  • If you can be willing to pick up what's missing, you will find your new goal or dream.
  • If you feel unhappiness with no way out, you need to come up with a rational response instead of letting it go.
(4)If you are unhappy in your later years, you look to the past for the value of your life.
  • It is sad to hold on to the memories of happy times in the past, to drown out the misfortunes of the present.
  • If you believe that there is a future, even if it is only slightly, "hope" can be the driving force of happiness.
  • Even if you are nearing the end of your life, you can think of the "themes you want to do for fun" that you can do now.
(5)The "long-term theme" should be created with the timing of your death in mind.
  • People will die. And everyone is conscious of their own death.
  • Death is not unhappiness. It is a natural phenomenon.
  • You should think about the subject you want to do for fun until just before you die.
  • The feeling that you will never die until you achieve your "long-term theme" drives you to live longer.
  • One cannot cut off one's past. It is also impossible not to be aware of the future. People live with reflection on the past and hope to think about the future.
8.2 types of shocks

Furthermore, as I advanced my thoughts on unhappiness, I realized that all unhappiness can be classified into 2 types. To realize this can help prevent unhappiness or calmly deal with it when it happens.

(1)"Mental shock" and "financial shock" are the consequences of unfortunate events.
  • There are many kinds of unhappiness in the world, and the causes can be classified as "mental shock", "financial shock" or both'.
【Major causes of mental shock】
  • Death or parting.
  • Illness or injury.
  • Unemployment.
  • Discord with family and friends.
  • Frustration.
  • Lose trust.
  • Betrayal.
  • Natural disasters, etc.
【Major causes of financial shock】
  • Unemployment.
  • Failure in business.
  • Unexpected expenses.
  • Theft.
  • Repayment, compensation, etc.
(2)Time will solve mental shocks. Financial shocks can't be solved without money.
  • If you have a major mental shock (a level that can't be overcome by natural healing powers or a change of pace), you should see a doctor.
  • If the mental shock is not to the point of going to the hospital, relieve it with rest, a change of pace, such as a hobby or a trip, or divergence by telling friends.
  • Over time, the state of mind gradually improves.
  • In the case of financial shock, you need to come up with money.
  • If it's just you, you can "put up with" it, but if there are people involved, you need to think about immediate measures.
  • One way to solve it is to consult experts or public agencies.
(3)It is important to be aware of the life to be happy and at the same time realize that there are unfortunate events in life.
  • It is important to have a positive attitude that any unhappiness (shock) will be resolved once your feelings and finances are in order.
  • Experience unhappiness and create tolerance for unhappiness and your own way of solving it.
  • By facing unhappiness, you learn how to react to your own unhappiness (immunity level).

【Summary】
There are many misfortunes (shocks). And it is not an exaggeration to say that there are as many instances of recovery as there are misfortunes. In other words, misfortunes suffered by oneself are not uncommon, and many people have experienced similar misfortunes in the past. And in the rules of thumb that have helped many people recover from misfortune, you will find tips for dealing with the misfortunes you face.
If you experience misfortune (shock), don't panic. There are many experts for different issues. You can also refer to books and information from the Internet. It's relatively easy to get answers to every problem.
When you're faced with a problem that's beyond your control, or when you're in a difficult mental state, don't fret alone and look outside for a solution. Don't leave unhappiness alone. Moving forward is the first step in the solution.
In a world where basic human rights are recognized, everyone is free to live as long as they don't commit a crime. As long as you stay alive no matter how hard it is, you have a chance of resurrection. In other words, no matter how great your misfortune, there is a bottom, so if you feel you have reached the bottom, you can trust that it will rise afterwards.

9.About irritation and anxiety

There are many things in daily life that make you feel irritable and anxious. As an extension of thinking about unhappiness, I have also summarized irritable and anxious as follows.

(1)If there is a lot of irritability and anxiety in daily life, it is not a happy life.
  • If you have irritability and anxiety, "the subject you want to do for fun" becomes less enjoyable.
  • Frustration and anxiety are hard to control.
  • Regulating the autonomic nervous system can alleviate it, but it won't go to zero.
(2)When we think about our current state of mind momentarily, we can categorize it as negative, zero, or positive.
  • Negative → Irritable and anxious. Unsettled.
  • Zero → Normal condition.
  • Plus → Excited, cheerful. Somehow fun.
(3)There is always a cause for the present feeling (state of mind).
  • Why am I irritated now?
  • What makes you uncomfortable?
  • A problem with your autonomic nervous system or some disease?
  • What can you take away from this irritability?
  • Positive feelings have their causes as well.
(4)You can find the negative causes and regain your composure when the causality is clear.
  • Think calmly about the source of your irritation.
  • Unpleasant events, relationship problems, and anxiety about the future can cause negative feelings.
  • Identifying the cause makes it easier to consider solutions.
  • Once you have sorted out the causality and considered a solution, you can confidently think positively, such as, "It will be all right," or "It will be solved by..." and implement the solution promptly.
(5)By quantifying the negative and positive levels of your feelings, you can get an objective picture of your condition.
  • Scoring on irritability can help you sort out causation and come up with solutions.
  • Scoring on exhilaration and excitement increases enjoyment.
【Minus 3 points】Feeling irritable, foggy, and unable to do anything else
【Minus 2 points】 Feeling irritable, foggy clearly (strongly)
    【Minus 1 point】 Feeling somewhat irritable, foggy
    【Zero】Normal condition
    【1 point】Somehow exhilarating and exciting
    【2 points】Exhilarating and exciting
【3 points】Exciting, feeling excited and having fun doing anything
  • If it is negative, make sure the cause and effect is clear and improve it quickly.
  • If it is zero, consider it a good condition.
  • A positive condition eventually gets used to and is difficult to sustain.
  • If you can resolve frustration and moping, it becomes a rule of thumb, and you will get used to dealing with it from the next time.

【Summary】
People feel irritable and gloomy when the situation is different from what they expect or want. And irritability and gloomy can lead to stress. But it's hard to control your feelings. People get frustrated on their own when they have a bad day.
For example, if you're frustrated because of a train delay, the irritation will go away once the train starts running normally. If you're waiting for a delayed train and someone you don't know happens to be next to you does something unpleasant to you, your frustration level will double. Furthermore, if the other person is supposed to be at fault, but the people around you see you as the perpetrator, you'll feel terrible.
If it's just a train delay, it's not a big deal, but if you have multiple unpleasant things going on, your frustration will double or triple and you'll be feeling it for longer.
The only way to get rid of your irritation is to convince yourself. If you can't convince yourself even if the person who caused your irritation apologizes, your irritation will not subside. It may fade over time, but it can be difficult to control your feelings immediately on your own terms.
The best way to resolve (alleviate) such annoying irritations is to think calmly about causality. Identify the cause of your current irritability.
In the previous example, there are three causes of irritation: train delays, unpleasant people, and misunderstandings around you. Once you have identified the cause, you can consider measures to convince yourself. Then you will treat each one as a "past event that is no use to be frustrating."
  For example, consider this:

  • Train delay→ The problem has been solved because the train has arrived.
  • Unpleasant person→ Bad luck. Maybe abnormal. Next time, I'll walk away as soon as I feel something disturbing.
  • Misunderstandings around me→ It doesn't matter because they are all strangers, I don't care.

People who experience a lot of frustration on a daily basis may have a lot of frustrating happenings left unprocessed.

Not only "train delays," "unpleasant people," and "misunderstandings around you," but let's say you get home and run into more irritant. When this happens, you get mixed up with the previous irritant and become uncontrollable.
Let's say you come home and the following things are waiting for you.

  • You forgot to buy ingredients for dinner.
  • Your child was playing without doing his homework. You scolded him and he talked back.
  • You received an invitation LINE from someone you don't like.
  • You realized that you dropped your credit card.
It would be quite frustrating if this happened in addition to the series of train station frustrations. But don’t just say "What a hassle!" or "What a bad day!" here. You need to consider causality and countermeasures until the frustration subsides.
  • You forgot to buy ingredients for dinner→ Go to buy them now. Or have a different menu.
  • Your child was playing without doing his homework. You scolded him and he talked back.→ Make him do the homework now. Talk back and a little defiance is normal for his age (you can't help it) .
  • You received an invitation LINE from someone you don't like.→ Politely decline.
  • You realized that you dropped your credit card. → Contact the card company.

All of them are easy to answer. Of course, it takes the hassle of going shopping, admonishing your kid, coming up with a good rejection text, and contacting your credit card company, but consider these the hassles necessary to deal with the negative life events that can happen to anyone with a certain probability. If you deal with them properly, you'll probably feel less frustrated and be able to forget about your "bad day" without too much drag. If you can digest the frustration yourself and tell a friend, for example, a "funny story," you've completely blown it.

If you feel frustrated, examine the cause of your frustration one by one to determine the cause and effect. In many cases, knowing the cause of your irritation can reduce your frustration. And if action needs to be taken, the key is to do it quickly.

10.Increase sensitivity

So far, I've written about the definition of happiness and how to measured them, and about unhappiness and frustration.
As an end to this section, I've summarized what you want to be aware of to actually be happy.

(1)The four indicators of happiness "sense of excitement, sense of achievement, growth, and memories" tend to score higher as your sensitivity increases.
  • The score based on how you feel on your own criteria, so the higher the sensitivity, the higher the score.
  • Even if it's the same theme and result, those who don't feel much emotion or joy score lower.
(2) Sensitivity can be increased through awareness and training.
  • Look, listen, feel, and accept around you honestly.
  • Be touched by good information and knowledge.
  • Observe your surroundings and find great things.
         ↓

【Summary】
To increase sensitivity, be aware of "Why? ","I see! ","Amazing!".
On daily basis, you should be interested in various things, saying "Why?". Then think and research the answers to "Why?".
Once you know the answer, it's important to be honestly impressed and say, "I see!". Now that you know the answer to something you didn't know, do yourself a favor and say, "I see!" instead of, "Hmm."
Being sensitive at an older age makes you look younger. I think the secret to youth is the feeling of looking for something fun or unfamiliar. Even an attitude of acceptance without even bothering to "look" should stimulate sensitivity and have a positive effect.

On the other hand, a difficult look like a realization of life, or an attitude that you are always right, will keep you away from others. It can be fun to share your opinions and experiences with others (especially those younger than you), but one wrong move and you'll be just a preacher. You want to be careful.
